Jason Geh Jazz Band was the designated entertainers during Alstom’s Appreciation Dinner Event held on April the 6th 2011 at Le Meridien Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Alstom booked the smaller function room (Grand Salon Room) for this event to accommodate 60 specially invited guests.
The band arrived at 5:00pm for the sound check but had to wait for the function room to be vacated as there was a separate corporate seminar that was scheduled during the day. The room soon cleared and the band members manage to proceed with their sound check and were done by 6:00pm.
It was pretty straight forward as the Jazz Band consisted of only three performers thus they just needed to test and balance the microphones for the singer and saxophonist and the output of the keyboard.
This event was organized by Alstom and they wanted their guests to be able to networked and discuss comfortably during dinner with light live music entertainment setting the ambient.
The guests started to arrive at about 7:30pm and help themselves with cocktails by the poolside just outside the function room. At 8:00pm, they were ushered into the room and the event commenced with a few brief speeches.
The buffet dinner ensued and the Jazz Band kicked off their first set of performance for the night. Their performance repertoire was specially and carefully chosen by Alstom that covers some Malay songs as majority of patrons were Malays. Other repertoires included ballades and jazz western songs.
The final set comprised of upbeat numbers. A few chosen guests were invited up on stage to be “backup dancers” during the band’s last song which drew much euphoria from the floor.
The event concluded at about 10:15pm.
