This blog post feature the wedding singer and musicians at a Chinese wedding reception held in Equatorial Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on the 11th December 2009. This three piece live band made up of female singer, saxophone player and keyboardist / band leader was booked by wedding couple Ben and June 6 months prior to this event.
The live music commence at the cocktail reception outside the main ballroom where guest were entertained by the musicians on the grand piano and saxophone with some lively instrumental numbers. The musicians were later joined by their lovely female singer during dinner with a mix of English and Chinese songs.
Ben and June wanted to hire a professional wedding singer who is adept in singing both languages as they knew that their parents and friends loved oldies and Chinese songs. Among the repertoire requested were “tien mi mi”, “ye shang hai”, “ye lai xiang”, “xiao cheng gu shi”, “xiang shi her pan” and English classics like “can’t help falling in love”, “fly me to the moon”, “stand by me”, “just the way you are” and lots more.
The wedding singer was accompanied by Jason Geh, the 1988 International Electone Festival winner on the keyboards and Thomas, our very own Malaysian “Kenny G” on the saxophone.
